Description
For trail runners who prefer a strong ground feel, the FuelCell Rebel Trail balances traction, reinforcement, and durability for a dynamic underfoot experience.
New Balance aims to solidify its position in the trail running world, and one of its major bets for 2026 is the FuelCell Rebel Trail. This shoe takes its name from the legendary road running shoe but transforms it to offer real performance on the trails. While it may remind you of the previous Venym, this new Rebel Trail goes much further. It arrives as a natural evolution of that model, but also as a successor to the Summit Unknown, seeking a balance between agility, good cushioning, and technical capabilities. The first thing that catches the eye is the new outsole with Vibram Megagrip and a more aggressive 5mm lug pattern. This is combined with Traction Lug technology to offer better performance on loose terrain. A significant difference compared to the Venym, which fell short in terms of technical features. The midsole continues with the FuelCell compound made of PEBA, but it seems to have gained a bit more firmness compared to the Venym, which is appreciated on technical sections. There is no plate, neither carbon nor protective, in order to better adapt to the terrain. Therefore, it will be a shoe with a great feel for those who want to go fast but without excessive stiffness. As for the upper, we find greater reinforcement and durability, especially in the forefoot. The design also gains support without sacrificing comfort. Cushioned in the heel, without excessive protection, it maintains a certain lightness that will please runners of medium to light weight or those looking for an agile and comfortable option within New Balance's trail running range. Everything points to this New Balance FuelCell Rebel Trail becoming a favorite within the American brand's collection. A shoe that offers the best of fast running with a design and sole suitable for the mountains.
